A business technology firm has pledged to create 100 new tech jobs in Seattle over the next 5 years.
West Monroe, a business and technology consulting firm, announced today it plans to hire more than 100 business and technology professionals in Seattle over the next five years, more than doubling its workforce in the metropolitan area. Its hiring plans are part of an effort to address today’s growing tech skills gap in business and innovation, as the firm hires professionals with an uncommon blend of deep technological expertise and business acumen.
West Monroe serves dozens of companies in Washington state and the Pacific Northwest, primarily upper mid-market and Fortune 1000 companies. Its success in the region has helped fuel incredible growth for the firm: West Monroe Partners was founded in 2002 with a handful of employees and has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35%.
“Our growth mindset has created nearly 100 jobs in Seattle over the last 15 years, and will fuel even more than that in the next five years,” said Managing Director Brian Paulen. “Seattle is a critical market for West Monroe Partners, where we’ve invested in time and talent over the last decade. It is a special place to live and do business because of the abundance of talent, focus on technology innovation, and local Seattle lifestyle that characterizes our area.”
West Monroe’s people-focused culture and policies consistently rank West Monroe as one of the top places to work in the Puget Sound region, winning dozens of awards including Washington’s 100 Best Companies to Work For (Seattle Business Magazine) and Washington’s Best Workplaces (Puget Sound Business Journal). The firm supports employees who desire to transfer from another West Monroe office, including those who wish to transfer to Seattle permanently.
“I started the Seattle office 12 years ago to be close to the pioneering and innovative companies of the Northwest,” said Senior Managing Director Tom Bolger, who founded West Monroe’s Seattle office in 2005 and now oversees the firm’s West Coast and strategic growth and acquisitions strategy. “Under Brian Paulen’s leadership, the office not only continues to serve premier companies in the Puget Sound region, but acts as a job creation engine.”
The new jobs will cover all areas of the consulting business, from operations to project managers to strategists, adding technical, functional, and industry expertise, primarily in the healthcare, energy, utilities, and financial services industries. In candidates, the firm looks for an “uncommon blend” of deep technical expertise and business acumen, both at the individual and collective level.
Part of the firm’s purpose is developing professionals that possess this uncommon blend into the next generation of leaders. Through mentorship and learning, West Monroe invests significantly in talent to develop the business skills of technologists, and the technology skills of business consultants. “This investment in talent has been critical to our growth, allowing us to adapt quickly and move faster than most firms,” CEO Kevin McCarty said. “When companies have more business-minded technologists and technology-minded business people, it’s a force multiplier. That is exactly why we are developing this blend within our young leaders today.”
West Monroe is committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work. In Seattle, we have supported dozens of local charities through board appointments and monetary contributions, including The First Tee of Greater Seattle, NatureBridge, Boyer Children’s Clinic, and Treehouse. Additionally, the firm actively recruits from some of the area’s top universities such as the University of Washington and Gonzaga University.
The firm’s Seattle office is located at 1501 Fourth Avenue. A video about the Seattle office’s people, culture, and work can be seen here.
