Aetna (NYSE: AET) Market President of Ohio and Kentucky Brad Fischer joins local and state-based economic leaders today to jointly announce Aetna’s growing investment in the New Albany community and economy. The company has expanded its operations into a new 50,000+ square foot facility and is projected to hire up to 650 new employees by year-end 2020.
“Aetna is excited to be growing in Ohio and adding jobs in New Albany, a community we’ve been a part of for nearly 20 years,” said Fischer. “Our job growth is the result of strong customer interest in solutions we are delivering that significantly improve the member experience. New Albany provides reliable access to a strong talent pool and pipeline for health care jobs, including care managers, customer service and claims. We consider the area to be a strategic location for our company.”
Aetna currently leases more than 162,000 square feet in New Albany at 7400 W. Campus Rd., and recently extended the lease through 2021. The new 50,000+ square foot facility is located across the street at 6005 Nacot Place. The new structure will house clinical care management and customer service positions.
“We are proud of the strong working relationship we share with Aetna, Columbus 2020 and New Albany that helped move this expansion forward,” said John Minor, JobsOhio president and chief investment officer. “Aetna is an outstanding example of how companies that choose to invest in Ohio continue to grow here, and we are delighted that growth will include hundreds of new jobs in New Albany.”
“Aetna was one of our first commitments to the New Albany International Business Park two decades ago and we are excited to celebrate Aetna’s continued growth and success here,” said New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding. “We’re proud that Aetna is a top employer in our community. However, what makes Aetna special is their active engagement and investment in our community in many meaningful ways.”
Aetna’s expansion in New Albany is supported by an incentive package recently awarded by the Ohio Tax Authority. The state tax incentives are based on Aetna committing to hiring 350 new employees. Aetna provides services to over 750,000 members and employs over 2,700 people (in-office and telework) in the state of Ohio.
