The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in cooperation with, U.S. Department of Labor-Wage and Hour Division, and the Workforce Solutions of the Coastal invites you to attend this informational workshop on Human Resources for small to medium-sized businesses. Human Resources is a critical component of employee well-being in any business, no matter how small. HR responsibilities include payroll, benefits, hiring, firing, and keeping up to date with state and federal laws. In this workshop, the U. S. Department of Labor-Wage and Hour Division will review the importance of complying with rules and regulations covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend will review human resources services dedicated to leading an integrated, market-driven workforce system that meets the needs of employers and workers, and helps Texans prosper. In addition, the SBAs programs and services to help small business start, grow and succeed will be explained. Attendees will learn: Policies under minimum wage, overtime provisions, and tip credit for tipped employees Child labor provisions and employment regulations for youth dependent on the age and type of work being conducted Who is eligible under the Family and Medical Leave Act and what does it cover Enforcement of Violations, who can report violations and what happens next Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bends recruitment services, job search assistance, training, child care services, educational initiatives, labor market intelligence, and much more.
