The purpose of Gateway to Global Internship Fair is to educate underserved and underrepresented Metro-East and St. Louis youth on the benefits of internships while giving them immediate access to the corporations that offer those opportunities. The focus of the fair is careers and entrepreneurial opportunities specifically in International Trade. Doing business outside of U.S. borders is a critical, yet untapped arena in underserved communities. Companies invited to participate are those that have a global footprint and functioning business units specific to international trade via exporting and/or importing. The few colleges and universities invited will be those that offer international business programs in addition to other degree programming. The hope is that youth will be inspired and motivated to focus on workforce preparedness via internships, career paths and ultimately entrepreneurial opportunities that trigger social and economic advancement, job creation in their communities, and the concept of thinking globally while acting locally. Lunch will be provided.
