Panel Bios Gregory M. Tumolo, Esq. For nearly a decade, Gregory M. Tumolos practice has focused on representing and counseling employer andemployee clients in a wide array of labor and employment law matters. He has substantial experience providing employers with the creative and cost-effective compliance solutions that they need to grow their businesses and effectively manage risk. He regularly assists clients with issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and state anti-discrimination and wage and hour laws. In addition, he has several years of direct and substantial experience litigating discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and whistle-blower claims. He has successfully defended employers in cases before the before state courts and administrative agencies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He has also negotiated the terms of employment agreements and proposed severance packages, assisted with career transitions that involve non-competition and restrictive covenants, and represented employees in cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and unpaid wages. Mr. Tumolo attended Bryant University, graduating magna cum laude in 2005. He graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in 2008. He is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In 2014, Gregory was selected by Super Lawyers New England as a Rising Star in the field of Labor and Employment Law. He began his career as a judicial law clerk for the Providence Superior Court and is an associate with Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney, LLP. In addition to being professionally certified as a mediator through the Center for Mediation and Collaboration of Rhode Island, Gregory is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Legislative Affairs Committee for the Rhode Island Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Ballou Home, a non-profit skilled nursing facility in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Glenn A. Miller, MS, LCDP, CEAP, Director, Employee Assistance Services Glenn A. Miller provides training, consultation and clinical services for client organizations of Coastline EAP. He joined our organization in 1993. Prior to his work in employee assistance, he held a variety of administrative and clinical positions in the chemical dependency treatment field. He holds a Masters degree in Human Services from Springfield College, a Bachelor degree from URI, and is a licensed Advanced Chemical Dependency Professional and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. Glenn develops and conducts many of Coastline EAPs seminars and has also been a trainer for the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Association and the Institute for Labor Studies. Judy G. Hoffman, LICSW, CEAP Judy G. Hoffman has been the Executive Director of Coastline EAP since 2003. She provides strategic planning for operations, finances and clinical functions of organization in conjunction with Executive Director, RI Student Assistance Services and the Board of Directors. Judy holds a Master of Social Work from Catholic University School of Social Services and a Bachelor or Arts from Brown University. SamiaKirmani, Principal at Jackson Lewis P.C. of Boston, Massachusetts Samia M. Kirmani is a Principal in the Boston, Massachusetts, office of Jackosn Lewis P.C. and co-leader of the Workplace Training Practice Group. She concentrates her practice in employment couseling, training , policu development, and litigation on behalf of management. Ms. Kirmani provides practical legal advice to clients on various employment law issues, including discrimination, pay equity, health and leave management, reductions in force, retaliation and whistleblower matters, individual separations, and employee relations issues. Ms. Kirmani also assists clients with policy creation, revision and implementation and routinely conducts management and employee trainings on topics in employment law, including sexual harassment prevention and best management practices. Ms. Kirmani also advises clients with respect to drafting and implementing national arbitration agreements. Ms. Kirmani defends employers in employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Ms. Kirmani is a frequent speaker and addresses Legal and Human Resources audiences on current and various workplace law topics, such as paid sick leave, arbitration agreements and class action waivers, pay equity, and employment discrimination. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Kirmani served as in-house counsel at a technology company, focusing on employment law (including employee relations, discrimination, employment disputes and reduction in force issues) and dispute management. While attending law school, she was a Solicitations Editor for theBoston College International and Comparative Law Review. Cynthia J. Butler, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Cynthia J. A proficient facilitator, negotiator, change consultant and advisor, Cynthia frequently presents to human resources and business professionals on a variety of Human Resource related topics. After completing labor relations courses at Cornell University Cynthia earned a B.A. in Business at Bryant University, cum laude. She is a graduate of the Entrepreneurship Training Program, and certified as a Myers Briggs Type Indicator Instructor, Leadership Trainer and Small Business Consultant. She holds the Senior Professional in HR certification from the HR Certification Institute and the SHRM-SCP certification from the Society for Human Resource Management. Cynthia also believes strongly in giving back to the community and volunteers her time to many non- profit and community based organizations. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Save The Bay and as State Chapter Director for the RI Society for Human Resource Management State Chapter (RISHRM) where she also served at the Director of Government Affairs for over 10 years. Cynthia is a member of RI SHRM, SHRM, the Federal Affairs and State Affairs Committees of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the RI Business Group on Health.
