Event Description

Vision: The Great Individuals Value Education (G.I.V.E.) Summit will become the Premier Event in the District of Columbia (DC), Maryland and Northern Virginia [DMV] corridor for inspiring, informing and promoting the importance of education to individuals who are currently attending College Preparatory Institutions, Career Readiness Academies or can be classified as Opportunity Youth. Mission: The G.I.V.E. summit provides inspiration, information and access to resources to individuals who are currently attending College Preparatory Institutions, Career Readiness Academies or can be classified as Opportunity Youth within the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, through a series of workshops, discussions and events that allow them to engage with community stakeholders, businesses, city & government officials. Date(s): April 14 - 15, 2018 Location: Reginald F. Lewis High School (6401 Pioneer Drive, Baltimore, MD 21214)Day/Time/ Event:Saturday/ 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. / G. I. V. E. Summit (Workshops & Panel Discussion) The G.I.V.E. Summit will be comprised of a series of workshops, seminars and panel discussions that highlight the importance of education (traditional & trade), health and economic awareness. These workshops and seminars will be tailored for parents andindividuals who are currently attending College Preparatory Institutions, Career Readiness Academies or can be classified as Opportunity Youth. Likewise, the panel discussions will engage summit attendees in intellectual dialogues regarding social issue that impact access to opportunities and feature prominent community, academic, business, government & city officials. Event Purpose: To provide opportunity for dialogue with entities and individuals who can provide information, resources and support forindividuals who are currently attending College Preparatory Institutions, Career Readiness Academies or can be classified as Opportunity Youthand their families.Saturday/ 10:00 a.m. 3:00p.m. / G.I.V.E. College Fair The G.I.V.E. College Fair will be comprised of regional colleges (traditional & community) and trade school representatives,individuals who are currently attending College Preparatory Institutions, Career Readiness Academies or can be classified as Opportunity Youthwill have the chance to engage representatives of institutions directly and discuss with them the requirements and benefits of attending the respective institution.Sunday/ 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. / Old Gold Bowl Fundraiser to Support a selected High School sports program This event will serve as the closing activity for the Summit and feature the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in a Flag Football Game. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales, along with contributions will support the enhancement of a Baltimore City School Athletic program.
